Well, when you go into a game like UVA and USC and you are a Cav fan, you hope it won't be really, really bad, but you really don't have any expectations. So, we were not totally disappointed or depressed at the outcome of the game last Saturday - 52-7! Hey, at least we scored a touchdown! Tailgating was great, even if it was 99 degrees and 99% humidity and we had USC fans all around us!!!!
Bob, Jackie, Lindsay & Maddie left Woodbridge @ 7:15am and arrived in C'ville at U-Hall at 9am. We were about 10 minutes ahead of Corey, AJ and Cooper on 29, and would call when we passed hidden troopers in the median to tell them the location of the speed trap. No tickets for anyone, I am happy to report!
Jeannie, Lee and Allie had already gotten to U-Hall and saved parking spots. Corey, AJ and Cooper arrived a few minutes after us. Jeannie & Lee brought the grill in the back of his pick-up, along with all the side dishes. Bob & Jackie brought the hamburgers and hot dogs and buns, and Corey & AJ brought the drinks, which were begun around 9:35am - mimosas and beers!
It was a beautiful sunny morning, that became extremely HOT rather quickly, and stayed HOT throughout the day. Although there was a breeze at the stadium, it was still HOT! AJ and Jeannie took Maddie and Cooper back to Jeannie's house, as it was just too hot for the little ones.
By half-time, our seats were in the shade, and it actually was comfortable, even for an uncomfortable game! After the game, we were joined for continued tailgating by Paul (Bob's brother) & Nanette (his wife), who were in C'ville for a baseball tournament. We never left C'ville until 9:15pm and got home about 11:15 - a LONG day! And Maddie yakking for the first hour in the car on the way home was endless! All in all, a fun, though HOT opening day!
