The Sweet Life

We Americans differ greatly from our European & UK counterparts when it comes to vacation or "holiday" as the Brits call it.  We are notorious for being workaholics, working 50-60 hour plus weeks during the course of the year, and then working a 60-70 hour week (I said, week, not pay period!) just so we can tie up loose ends before taking a measley 2 week vacation!  Bob & I have gotten better about vacation, as we have our membership at Club Solaris in Mexico, which "forces" us to take 2 weeks in the winter in either Cancun or Cabo.  If we don't use our two weeks in the course of a year, we lose them, so it does force us to go every year!  But that's something we do just for us and it really is relaxing and fun (no cell phones or email, well, at least no daily email; I do check email every few days!).
Hershey Park in PA is something we did last summer with grandchild #1 (4 years old last summer, 5 this year) for a few days, had a fun time and decided to do it again this year.  Grandchild #2 (2 year old) was asked to join us, but his parental units were not comfortable with him coming with us for 4 days (maybe next year!) to PA.
So, off we go to Hershey Park on a Monday, with a 2 day pass for Tues & Wed.  Hershey, PA, was built by Milton Hershey (you know, the Chocolate Guy) and there can be no doubt in your mind when you actually enter the town of Hershey, as the street lights are all Hershey Kisses!

We stayed at a Howard Johnson's Inn on East Chocolate Ave (street names are another way to tell what town you are in!!!) and Maddie and Poppy enjoyed the pool each of the 4 days we were there!

Although Day 1 started out with a bit of crabbiness on the part of grandchild #1 because we were making her WALK instead of riding in an umbrella stroller (such cruelty should be reported to Social Services!), the day actually had some fun moments!

Maddie has absolutely NO FEAR of any rides that her height will allow her to go on!!! And Poppy loves it because Grammy only does roller coasters - anything that spins or rocks back and forth or goes upside down is a stomach churner, barf bag for Grammy!

Maddie dancing with a country western singer during a show!

Day 2 was cheerier after a swim in the pool and a good night's sleep on day 1!!!!

Did I already say "NO FEAR"??!!!???

The Dynamic Duo went on the SooperDooperLooper a 2nd time, after all 3 of us went on it once.  I should have known by the name "Looper" that this was an upside down coaster, that's why I only went once!

Poppy & Maddie on the Tidal Wave in the front seat!  The notice for this ride stated "you will get SOAKED on this ride"!!!! Not wet but SOAKED!  And boy did they ever!!!

And so, we all survived our week of thrills & adventure, and even were still smiling when we got home!!!!!
